The Manas Foundation is a social organization for the empowerment of women and youth from disadvantaged communities, mainly the Dalit-Adivasi community. It is truly admirable that the ‘Manas Foundation’ is building the confidence of the women and youth in this group to come together and try to solve their own problems.

My field work with Manas  has given me ample opportunities to explore and understand the tribal realities and their struggle which is more genuine, it is beyond any negotiation with the government, it is more about the question of “who they are”, and their  question of “accessibilities” to the land, resources, and at the end “reclaiming their agencies”. Manas team work  towards building a space which is inclusive, participatory and empowering. And the tribal women with whom they work, resonate energies, act collectively and undertake initiatives which are gender just, socially just and are democratic in nature. More power to the team.

Manas has been hosting our students for fieldwork since few years now. The passion, dedication and zeal with which Manas works in the grassroots is something I have personally experienced and this has provided the students an exceptional learning platform.
